BRAN FLAKES (HEADLINERS)

Formed in 1992 amidst tape and zine trading scenes, The Bran Flakes already have seven releases of zany mashups and poppy audio collages that are more likely to cop a riff from Evel Knievel than anything on the current radio dial. Call them the cover boys of Cool and Strange Music or simply misfits with giant papermâché heads, these boys have amassed a cult following for their child-like concoctions that evoke flashbacks of a sugar-induced high whilst watching Sesame Street.

The Bran Flakes live show is a mixture of animations created by the band and others, live remixing and instrumentation of thier songs, videos, dancing, audience participation, and general absurdity.

PLANET BOOTY

Planet Booty is a force to be reckoned with. Having started as a genre defying concept album by brothers Nathan and Dylan Germick that blends electropop, sci-fi synths, space funk and booty bass, the project has evolved into a live show of epic proportions. The 6-piece ensemble fuses electronics, drums, percussion, horns, marimba, guitars, and soulful singing (with a splash of choreography and theatrics) to create a hyper-charged and highly entertaining dance friendly experience.

Having quickly earned a reputation as one the Bay Area’s must see live acts, Planet Booty has earned prime slots at Rickshaw Stop, Café du Nord, Bottom of the Hill, Red Devil Lounge, and the Viper Room (Hollywood). Their combination of high-caliber musicianship, adventurous arrangements, and good ol’ fashioned funk is guaranteed to raise a smile and get booties bouncing.

THE GLOWING STARS

There are a lot of chiptune artists with a lot of talent," says multi-instrumentalist Matt Payne, "but not really a lot of , per se." The answer: The Glowing Stars, a musical duet with guitarist/vocalist Lizzie Cuevas that combines the clicky waveforms and perfect arpeggios of 8-bit processors with the fury of live drums and distorted guitars. It's a little bit Weezer, a little bit Wario – in other words, utterly unique.

TEENAGE SWEATER

Santa Rosa Chillwave duo Teenage Sweater is comprised of Mario Armando Ruiz and Michael Paul Delgado, Teenage Sweater takes over where The Girl With The Violent Arms (Ruiz’s previous endeavor) left off. Both utilizing multiple synths and samplers, their sound is equal parts danceable and meditative. Sometimes, they are graced with live percussion by Starskate’s Shaun Hunter, which makes for an exciting mix of analog and digital beats. Having recently released their sophomore album, they are gearing up to release a proper LP later this year, which will be following some heavy touring. Already having touched ground in over 20 U.S. states, these guys don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon. A music video is in the works, and be sure to keep your eye out them at a house party near you.

DJ PIXTU

An L.A. Native, residing just outside Downtown Los Angeles, DJ PITXU (Ricky Garay) fell in love with DJing and making music during the thriving DJ scene of the 90's. It was then that he began studying and following dance music and the DJ's that were delivering it to packed warehouses and large open spaces scattered around the city late at night. Since performing and producing music was part of the family business, it was only natural that Ricky began exploring and rediscovering his musical roots by incorporating all of the exotic and familiar sounds that reflected his upbringing in the heart of Los Angeles. Currently he gets grimy on his keyboard very late night / early mornings. He is a Member of the MAGNET CREW and is currently a resident DJ at their local L.A. parties, MAGNET and MUCHO WEDNESDAYS. DJ PITXU is hard at work, producing and remixing music for future projects. Stay tuned, and catch him behind the decks; he looks forward to getting your head bobbing, your fists pumping and your ass shaking on the dance floor!
